well Lord Mountbatten the last Viceroy and the first governor-general of India chose the day since August 15th also commemorates the second anniversary of Japan's surrender to the Allied forces I bet you didn't know that India celebrates its independence day with South Korea Bahrain and the Republic of Congo yeah it's a popular date.

Have you ever wondered why Pakistan celebrates their Independence Day on August 14th and India celebrates it on August 15th? 

Once again Lord Mountbatten is to blame for this in the capacity of the last Viceroy of British India Mountbatten was forced to attend both Independence Day functions in both countries to avoid inconvenience Mountbatten shifted Pakistan's independence day to August 14th making it one day ahead of India's ever wondered what the father of our nation Mahatma Gandhi was doing the day of Indian independence Mahatma Gandhi had no time to celebrate

MAHATMA GANDHI 

Gandhi Ji was away from all of the celebrations and was fasting and negotiating in Bengal did you know that the great civil disobedience movement was inspired by an American book Gandhi got his inspiration from the famous American philosopher David Thoreau who wrote a book called civil disobedience where any wrote that no one should pay taxes Gandhi was so inspired by the book that he used the same tactic in the struggle for independence he employed the method in the boycott of foreign goods and the abolishing of tax on salt did you know that the first tricolor flag to be raised on foreign soil was in Germany

Bhikhaji Rustom, is the first person to raise the tricolor flag in Germany on August 22nd, 1907 but this flag was a different version than the original one the flag consisted of three colors the topmost being green followed by gold saffron in the middle and the red color at the bottom it had London Mottram inscribed on it did you know that the US has been enjoying its independence for the last 37 years while India's 167th year being a free birth

 I bet you didn't know the Indian Pakistan border was drawn by a London lawyer served Cyril Radcliffe did you know that the India-Pakistan partition created inter-communal violence which cost more than a million lives also around 3.5 million Hindus and Sikhs shifted from Pakistan to India and about 5 million Muslims migrated from India to Pakistan and I bet you didn't know the important freedom struggle milestones first there was the revolution of 1857 followed by the civil disobedience movement in 1929 

They had the Dandi March in 1930 and finally, the quit India movement in 1942 subscribe for more bet you didn't know
