Har Ki Pauri is a famous ghat at Haridwar in Uttarakhand state in India. It is a revered place is the major landmark of the sacred city of Haridwar. It is a mass tourism place because this place is filled with devotees and tourists every single day.
According to the Shaivite school of Hindu theology, “Har” means “Lord Shiva”, “ki” means “of” and “Pauri” means “steps”.
According to Hindu theology, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu(Narayana) are believed to have come to the Brahmakund in Har ki Pauri in the Vedic (ancient period) period. There is a huge footprint of Lord Vishnu(Narayana) on a rock wall.
Har Ki Pauri is considered to be the escape point of the Ganga river from the hills and entry into the plains. An area within Har ki Pauri, where at the time of the evening Ganga Aarti takes place is considered to be most religious known as the name of Brahman Kund, The place where the nectar (Amrita) fell, Now it is known to be the recognized as Brahma Kund at Har-Ki-Pauri(means footsteps of the Lord).

Maya Devi Temple, located in Haridwar, dates back to the 11th century. Counted as one of the Shakti peethas present in India, this temple is inducted with the deity of Adhisthatri. This temple resembles the form of Shakti and a large number of devotees come here to worship this divine power.
According to the legend, it is considered that Sati, the wife of Lord Shiva, sacrificed her life because of her father’s insulting behavior towards lord shiva (her Husband). When Lord Shiva came to know that his consort sacrificed her life to keep his honor, he got furious and carried the body of his wife in the entire universe.
While Lord Shiva was taking a tour of the whole earth, different parts of Sati fell in several corners. According to the religious notion, it is believed that the naval and heart of Goddess Sati fell in the place where the Maya Devi temple stands today.

Daksha Mahadev Temple, placed in Kankhal, is located at a distance of about 4 km from the township of Haridwar. One of the ancient temples of Lord Shiva, this temple is visited by a large number of devotees every year.
According to the mythologies, this temple is associated with Daksha Yagya. The temple is best known as the Shri Daksheshwar Temple, originally built in 1810 AD by Queen Dhankaur. Unless the temple was again built-in 1962.
According to the legends, it is said that Daksha Prajapati(Father of Goddess Sati), performed a holy ritual, known as yagna at this spot. However, he did not invite Lord Shiva(who was his son-in-law), in this yagna. Feeling insulted by her father’s behavior, Sati sacrificed her life in the fire of the yagna.
The Daksha Mahadev Temple is believed to be built on the same ground where Sati sacrificed her life. The temple also has a delve situated within it, which marks the exact location where Sati sacrificed her life.
At the center of Shri Daksheshwar Temple, devotees can see the sacred Shiv idol installed in the phallic(Linga) form. This temple mob with tourists in the month of August, which is also known as the holy month of Sawan. According to the Hindu calendar, the month of August is known as the month of Lord Shiva.
Pawan Dham, located about two miles [2 km] from the city of Haridwar, is one of the oldest temples in the area. Located about two miles [3 km] from Har ki Pauri, the temple is known for its decorative statues. Also, the glasswork, designed on the temple walls which makes it one of the most popular tourist spots.
