CHANDI DEVI TEMPLE

Chandi Devi Temple is located on the peak of Neel Parvat. It is considered to be one of the best tourist destinations. if we talk about the temples in India.

Worshippers visit here from very far even from foreign countries. Chanda Devi Temple is one of the most famous temples in India. This place is of great sacred importance as well believe as one of the Shakti peethas of North India. 

This temple is also familiar with the name Siddh peetha, as it is believed to have powers to fulfill the wishes of devotees.

Chandi Devi temple it is a famous pyramid spot for induced and is named after goddess Durga's incarnation Chandi Devi, it is situated on Neel Parvat and is reachable by a cable car or easy tracking of around 3 kilometers.

Har Ki Pauri is a famous ghat at Haridwar in Uttarakhand state in India. It is a revered place is the major landmark of the sacred city of Haridwar. It is a mass tourism place because this place is filled with devotees and tourists every single day.

According to the Shaivite school of Hindu theology, “Har” means “Lord Shiva”, “ki” means “of” and “Pauri” means “steps”.

According to Hindu theology, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu(Narayana) are believed to have come to the Brahmakund in Har ki Pauri in the Vedic (ancient period) period. There is a huge footprint of Lord Vishnu(Narayana)  on a rock wall.

Har Ki Pauri is considered to be the escape point of the Ganga river from the hills and entry into the plains. An area within Har ki Pauri, where at the time of the evening Ganga Aarti takes place is considered to be most religious known as the name of Brahman Kund, The place where the nectar (Amrita) fell, Now it is known to be the recognized as Brahma Kund at Har-Ki-Pauri(means footsteps of the Lord).

1000 of devotees and pilgrims flock here from all over the world to take a holy bath; it is considered that a dip here will wash away their sins or Karma and provide salvation(Moksha). The ghat is on the west bank of the river Ganges through which the Ganges is diverted towards the north. 

Har ki Pauri is also the area where thousands of pilgrims converge and the festivities onset during the "Kumbha Mela", which takes place every 12 years, and the "Ardh Kumbh Mela" is celebrated after every six years.

MANSA DEVI TEMPLE

Mansa Devi Temple is situated at a distance of 2.5 km from the main settlement of Haridwar. It is situated at the top of the Bilwa Parvat on Shivalik Hills, Mansa Devi is considered to be one of the most visited temples of North India. The temple is known for being the residence of Goddess Mansa Devi, who was the wife of Nag Vasuki and also the child of Saint Kashyap.

This temple has 2 statues of the presiding deity, one with 3 mouths and 5 arms and the other with 8 arms.

One of the famous rites performed by the worshippers visiting the temple is to tie holy threads at the holy tree, which is considered to fulfill their wishes. Once the wishes are fulfilled, devotees must untie the holy thread.

Apart from being a holy shrine, Mansa Devi temple is also a very popular tourist destination. The cable cars may be the reason for this, which are popularly known as ‘Devi Udankhatola’. The cable car carries tourists from the lower station and up to the temple. The ropeway, which is used by the cable cars, is located at a height of 178 m from the land.

BHARAT MATA MANDIR

Cited in Sapt Sarovar next to the ashram of Haridwar, Bharat Mata Temple is a sacred place of its own kind. Bharat Mata Mandir was established by Swami Satyamitranand Giri. 

On 15th May 1983, the temple was enlisted by Late Prime Minister, Smt. Indira Gandhi. 

This temple is also unique because it is built in 8 stories, each of which represents a specific theme and is devoted to various legends and deities of India. The eight-story temple rises to a height of 180 ft.

MAYA DEVI TEMPLE

Maya Devi Temple, located in Haridwar, dates back to the 11th century. Counted as one of the Shakti peethas present in India, this temple is inducted with the deity of Adhisthatri. This temple resembles the form of Shakti and a large number of devotees come here to worship this divine power.

According to the legend, it is considered that Sati, the wife of Lord Shiva, sacrificed her life because of her father’s insulting behavior towards lord shiva (her Husband). When Lord Shiva came to know that his consort sacrificed her life to keep his honor, he got furious and carried the body of his wife in the entire universe.

While Lord Shiva was taking a tour of the whole earth, different parts of Sati fell in several corners. According to the religious notion, it is believed that the naval and heart of Goddess Sati fell in the place where the Maya Devi temple stands today.

RAJAJI NATIONAL PARK

Chila Wildlife Sanctuary is the part of Rajaji National Park which covers an area of approximately 240 sq. km. which tempts wildlife lovers with its perfect natural beauty and rich biodiversity. 

There are 23 species of mammals and 315 fauna species. One can watch a herd of elephants roaming the jungle or find delight in a variety of wildlife including leopards, barking loved one, wild boar, langur, ghural, sloth bear, leopard, jungle cat, Himalayan yellow-throated marten, sambar, cheetah, king cobra, woodpecker, etc.

DAKSH MAHADEV TEMPLE

Daksha Mahadev Temple, placed in Kankhal, is located at a distance of about 4 km from the township of Haridwar. One of the ancient temples of Lord Shiva, this temple is visited by a large number of devotees every year. 

According to the mythologies, this temple is associated with Daksha Yagya. The temple is best known as the Shri Daksheshwar Temple, originally built in 1810 AD by Queen Dhankaur. Unless the temple was again built-in 1962.

According to the legends, it is said that Daksha Prajapati(Father of Goddess Sati), performed a holy ritual, known as yagna at this spot. However, he did not invite Lord Shiva(who was his son-in-law), in this yagna. Feeling insulted by her father’s behavior, Sati sacrificed her life in the fire of the yagna.

The Daksha Mahadev Temple is believed to be built on the same ground where Sati sacrificed her life. The temple also has a delve situated within it, which marks the exact location where Sati sacrificed her life.

At the center of Shri Daksheshwar Temple, devotees can see the sacred Shiv idol installed in the phallic(Linga) form. This temple mob with tourists in the month of August, which is also known as the holy month of Sawan. According to the Hindu calendar, the month of August is known as the month of Lord Shiva.

Pawan Dham, located about two miles [2 km] from the city of Haridwar, is one of the oldest temples in the area. Located about two miles [3 km] from Har ki Pauri, the temple is known for its decorative statues. Also, the glasswork, designed on the temple walls which makes it one of the most popular tourist spots.

GAYATRIKUNJ SHANTIKUNJ HARIDWAR

Shantikunj is known as the headquarters of the spiritual and social organization. Known in 1971 at Haridwar, it emerged years ago as the center of Yug Nirman Yojana's international organization for the moral and spiritual renewal of Indian values. 

Located on the banks of the holy Ganges and in the center of the Shivalik Himalayas, it is also a place to attract visitors and those seeking spiritual guidance.

SAPT SAROVAR ASHRAM

Definitely, it is one of the top tourist destinations in Haridwar. Soham Swami was a great religious leader and Indian yoga. He was in this world before the first half of the 20th century. His actually name Shyamakanta Bandopaddhyaya. He was an Advaita Vedantic follower of Tibbetibaba. 

Tibbetibaba was the largest yogi and Indian maharishi. Soham Swami created an ashram named after Soham Ashram in both Nainital and Haridwar. He was born in Autsahi in Dhaka.

SATI KUND

Sati Kund is located in Kankhal in Haridwar. It was the Yagna Kund or sacrificial fire where Sati, Daksh's daughter, had reprimanded herself for her resentment at her father's rejection of her husband. 

A visit to Haridwar necessitates a visit to the Sati Kund area to understand the intensity of relations the Hindu pantheon has within itself as well as the all-powerful trinity of Bramha, Vishnu and Mahesh. The Sati Kund is located on the banks of the Ganga at Kankhal which finds mention in the great Indian epic, Mahabharata.
